Top co-working spaces in Hong Kong

Updated: May 31, 2019

Over the last 8 years, the number of square feet occupied by co-working spaces in the US has jumped nearly 400% according to real estate firm Avison Young.

As part of the sharing economy movement, the market for flexible office space continues to flourish and co-working spaces are popping up in cities all over the world disrupting the commercial real estate industry and making their mark on social life.

WeWork, for example, currently follows Airbnb and Uber as the third most valuable start-up in the US, the largest in New York and globally the sixth. In fact, WeWork occupies more Manhattan real estate than any other company.

With New York in its pocket and London as its key hub, over the last year WeWork’s gaze has been fixed on China and Hong Kong with scheduled expansions underway.

Although primarily targeting freelancers, small businesses and millennial start-ups, co-working solutions are increasingly attractive to larger corporations reluctant to commit to long-term leases as well.

Benefits of co-working spaces

  • More interaction across industries

  • More opportunities for cross-company collaboration

  • Added flexibility in terms of working hours and staffing

  • Helps to build more structure and discipline compared to working from home

  • Being part of a larger community, driving sense of purpose

  • Networking opportunities
